The Nets have spent three first-round picks on pure point guards over the past two years and a couple more on backcourt mates.
But a nearly 32-year-old bullyball forward they acquired in a summer salary dump led them in assists this preseason. And Julius Randle might be the Nets’ best playmaker in the regular season, too, as he’s poised for a career year.
“I’m really excited,” Randle told the Post. “This is probably the most diverse I’ve been used in an offense as far as just using all my skills, not just posting up or whatever. It’s just like playing all over the floor: DHOs [dribble handoffs], screens, cutting, back screens, using me to initiate offense. There’s many different ways coaches use me.
“…I’m still getting the rhythm of it, understanding the timing of things, like what I’m looking for, angles, all the different types of stuff. But I’m getting more and more comfortable with it every single day. And I’m excited. Once I really get the hang of it, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
