King Charles III managed to woo Republicans and Democrats alike with his dry humor and historical anecdotes during his first address to a joint session of Congress since ascending to the throne.
Lawmakers gave him a standing ovation numerous times throughout his nearly half-hour-long speech that prompted rare unity in Congress.
During his speech, the king touted the “irreplaceable and unbreakable” relationship between the two countries and called for a renewal in the bond between the UK and US.
The king’s speech comes during a turbulent time in US relations with the United Kingdom, as President Trump has butted heads with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on numerous issues, particularly the war in Iran.
