New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel returned to work after a weekend trip to Utah to attend counseling amid his ongoing scandal involving NFL insider Dianna Russini.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared a picture of Vrabel, 50, at the Patriots’ facilities via X on the afternoon of Monday, April 27.
Vrabel was away from the Patriots on day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday, April 25, as he sought counseling out of state.
The head coach was seen at the Salt Lake City International Airport on Saturday, as evidenced by photos published by Page Six on Monday. Vrabel, who was still wearing his wedding ring, browsed a gift shop and picked out a baby blue women’s jumpsuit in the images. Neither his wife, Jen, or his sons, Tyler and Carter, were visible in the pictures.
Vrabel announced his plans to attend counseling in a statement to ESPN on Wednesday, April 22.
“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,” Vrabel said. “This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them.”
The statement continued, “I have always wanted to lead by example, and I believe this is what I have to do to be the best husband, father and coach that I possibly can be. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is one that I know will make me a better person. I appreciate the support that everyone has given me and promise a stronger resolve as a result.”
Vrabel was with the team on the first two days of the draft, speaking to the media before the event officially began on Thursday, April 23.
During the press conference, Vrabel was asked why he initially said it was “laughable” that he and Russini, 43, had anything other than a professional relationship.
“That’s a private and personal matter,” Vrabel said. “I think that was an attempt to protect your family and I would never be dismissive. I think my family and this football team are the most important thing. … I’m excited about the challenge with both of those things.”
In pictures published by Page Six earlier this month, Vrabel and Russini, who is also married, were seen linking hands and sharing a hot tub at an Arizona resort in March.
Since then, multiple outlets have published additional photos of Vrabel and Russini together, with Page Six posting pictures that appear to show the duo kissing at a New York City bar in 2020.
