Another look at A’ja Wilson’s heated confrontation with a Fever fan Tuesday night has been discovered.
During the fourth quarter of the No. 6 Fever’s 99-89 series-tying Game 2 victory, the Aces star got tangled up with Sophie Cunningham while trying to get set in the post.
Whistles blew for a personal foul on Cunningham, but a Fever fan felt differently and could be seen in the new angle making it known to Wilson, which sparked the incident.
From the new angle, as Wilson walks away from Cunningham towards the basket, a man standing on the baseline in the first two rows at Gainbridge Fieldhouse took two steps toward the four-time MVP while repeatedly pointing at her and appearing to say “That’s on you” twice.
The fan, who was wearing a Fever hat, was immediately pulled into his seat by a woman dressed in the team’s free playoff shirt next to him as Wilson took out her mouth guard to talk back to him.
She was eventually led away from the scene as Aces teammates and staff took over to defuse the situation.
Wilson received a technical foul for the incident.
Her agent, Jade-Li English, the head of women’s basketball at Klutch Sports Group, took to X on Tueesday night to share photos of the Fever fan.
“Here you go,” she wrote above the clip showing the fan laughing and smiling.
The new video spread across social media, often shared by Fever fan accounts calling out Wilson for “soft” behavior.
One posted: “If an NBA player goes into the stands they’d 100% get suspended right? Aja Wilson did exactly that and nothing will happen with the WNBA. Tried getting him tossed for pointing.”
The fan involved in the situation was not removed from the game as the Fever claimed he did not violate the team’s conduct policy.
“Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses,” the team said in a statement. “Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.”
Wilson spoke up following the No. 3 Aces’ loss, stating the man’s behavior was “unacceptable.”
She also was not shocked that he was not removed from the arena.
“If I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said. I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone, that is unacceptable,” Wilson said. “You don’t know me to step toward me and point at me. I’m not for that s–t at all. … That there is unacceptable. How he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t do anything, of course he did.”
Wilson began this series with a dominant performance in Game 1 featuring 38 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and two assists while shooting nearly 79 percent from the field in 35 minutes,
That strong showing made her the first player in any WNBA game to tally 35 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 75 percent from the field. It also marked Wilson’s second career playoff game with 35 and 15, while the rest of the league only has two combined in playoff history.
Yet, her 22 points in Game 2 weren’t enough to power the Aces to a first-round sweep on the road.
The best-of-three series goes to a decisive finale in Las Vegas on Thursday night.
The Aces are aiming to win their second straight championship.
