NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! The House of Representatives rejected a measure from Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., targeting U.S. military involvement in Lebanon. Tlaib’s measure failed in a bipartisan vote of 189-225 on Tuesday, with 22 Democrats joining nearly all Republicans against it. The resolution would have specifically barred U.S. forces from engaging in “any hostilities” in the country, despite the U.S. military not joining Israel’s war in Lebanon and conducting few operations there. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., a leading critic of Israel, was among the Republicans who supported the measure. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, attempted to…

First impressions may start long before a handshake — one in five Americans say they judge others by their first name alone, according to new research. The survey of 2,000 Americans found that 18 percent of those polled said they’ll make assumptions about someone based entirely on a name they more than likely didn’t even choose themselves. Gen Z was the most likely generation to jump to conclusions when hearing someone’s name for the first time (29 percent), followed closely by millennials (21 percent). When asked to write out which first name carries the most negative connotations in their eyes,…

David Stearns is taking yet another stab at a potential reclamation project.  Stearns, who’s signed his fair share struggling players with hopes of the Mets turning them around, signed utility player Christopher Morel to a minor-league deal Tuesday, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed. The deal contains multiple opt-outs, and Morel will report to Triple-A Syracuse.  Morel, who turned 27 last week, was recently designated for assignment by the Marlins and hasn’t replicated the success he found with the Cubs early in his career.  While he still hit below .250 with the Cubs, he smashed 42 combined home runs and had…

A study of World Trade Center responders found that PTSD is associated with molecular changes linked to accelerated biological aging and a higher risk of chronic disease. The study, led by Stony Brook University in New York, could offer new clues to the long-term physical health effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. The researchers tested blood samples from 393 WTC responders, collected approximately 18 years after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to a university press release. Out of the sampled responders, 232 were diagnosed with PTSD and 161 were not. Between the two groups, 114 proteins and seven metabolites were significantly different. In…

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and most powerful atom smasher, has entered a planned four-year shutdown that will upgrade it to its most capable form yet.The particle accelerator was switched off Monday (June 29) and is scheduled to come back online in 2030 as the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HiLumi LHC), with improvements that will allow it to smash together roughly 10 times more particles than its original design. That data could help spark new discoveries in fundamental physics and shed light on the nature of dark matter, antimatter and the early universe.”This is a very important…

A Hollywood director was sentenced Monday to 30 months in prison for stealing $11 million from Netflix – and using the riches to splurge on Rolls-Royces and stays at five-star hotels. Carl Rinsch, 48, who directed a handful of sci-fi and action films, received a sentencing just half the length of the prosecution’s recommended jail time after the judge appeared to be swayed by star-studded testimony from character witnesses including actor Keanu Reeves. Judge Jed Rakoff of Federal District Court in Manhattan ordered Rinsch to repay Netflix the $11 million he was convicted in December of stealing from the streaming…

WASHINGTON — NPR retracted a story Tuesday announcing the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. The formerly publicly funded outlet posted the story by longtime legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg moments after the Supreme Court finished its 2025-26 term, and cited a statement from the press office.  However, no such announcement was made, nor did Alito make any comment from the bench about his future.  “NPR’s reporting regarding Justice Alito is inaccurate. And their reporting that there was any kind of court statement is inaccurate,” court spokesperson Patricia McCabe told Politico in a statement. NPR Editor in Chief Tommy Evans later…

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on Tuesday accused Justice Clarence Thomas of echoing “one of Dred Scott’s core tenets” by opposing the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold birthright citizenship. In Jackson’s concurrence with the majority’s opinion in Trump v. Barbara, she argued that the 14th Amendment’s citizenship clause was historically intended to apply to all people born in the United States, including children of illegal immigrants, contrary to Thomas’s position that the amendment was ratified specifically to provide slaves freed after the Civil War with citizenship.”Freed Blacks fought for the shared humanity of all…
