ANAHEIM, Calif. — For the second straight game Tuesday, Trent Grisham was not leading off against a right-hander.
But whether the Yankees go any further than that in the coming weeks — as in taking him out of the lineup altogether in favor of Spencer Jones — remains to be seen.
For now, Grisham was just being bumped down in the order to sixth — where he delivered a key RBI single after two foul bunt attempts to drive in an insurance run in the eighth inning of a 7-3 win — amid a rough stretch late in what has been a streaky season.
But with Aaron Judge potentially returning as soon as next week and taking over near-everyday duties in right field, where Jones has started regularly and been hot — reaching base four times Tuesday night, including a two-run shot — there may at least be a conversation to be had on whether the Yankees should keep starting Grisham in center field or if Jones has earned a chance to eat into that playing time.
